CORPORATE SUPPORT & WAVERLEY’S ECONOMIC IMPACT

We warmly welcome support from companies and businesses by way of corporate donations or gifts in kind. Operating Waverley results in Waverley Excursions requiring the services of a wide range of businesses from catering suppliers to shipyards and we welcome support in kind to help us reduce our costs.

Waverley’s economic impact is felt in the many coastal communities she visits during her annual programme of sailings around the U.K. An independent Economic Impact Assessment concluded in 2023 that the operation of Waverley contributes £11.6 million to the U.K. economy with £6 million of that total in Scotland.

At the Argyll and Bute level it is estimated that the local economic impact is in the region of £1.4 million per annum, supporting around 19 tourism jobs in the area. The assessment also concluded that Waverley supports approximately 184 FTE equivalent jobs per annum.

The assessment concluded that beyond the economic benefits derived from the operation of Waverley there exists a range of wider, and harder to measure, economic effects associated with investment made on PS Waverley, the destination development credentials of her activities and the heritage, social and educational role she plays in the communities she serves.

THE PADDLE STEAMER PRESERVATION SOCIETY (PSPS)

The Society was gifted Waverley in 1974 for £1 and helped return her to service in 1975. Over £4 million has been received to date from the Society to help keep Waverley sailing. New members are always welcome to join and help ensure Waverley continues to sail on for many more years to come. Visit the PSPS website for more details and to join. New members will receive a HALF-PRICE voucher for a Waverley cruise to welcome them to the Society.
