Let Waverley be your Legacy by leaving a gift in your Will
Every year, the income from passenger fares, catering and shop sales keeps Waverley on the water, but does not generate enough income to carry out all of our annual winter maintenance or fund renewal projects. Throughout Waverley’s preservation career there has been a heroic struggle to keep her in service. The amazing gifts left to us through legacies have helped finance major work to the ship including the replacement of the rudder stock in 2018, and in meeting annual winter refit costs.
Whether you have a Will already or you’re planning to write your first Will, it really isn’t hard to add a gift to Waverley Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. (the registered charity which owns the ship) and it can make all the difference as we work to keep Waverley’s paddles turning.
How do I leave a legacy?
It is helpful to consult a solicitor when first preparing a Will. There are two types of legacy:
- Pecuniary – a specific sum
- Residuary – the whole or part of an estate after specific gifts have been made.
Alternatively, you can also leave a specific gift, an item of value which could be sold for the benefit of Waverley’s charity or future benefit to Waverley such as property or shares.
If you would like to leave a legacy or gift to Waverley Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., please make sure your solicitor uses the full company name, address and charity number in your Will:- Waverley Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., 36 Lancefield Quay, Glasgow, G3 8HA, a charity registered in Scotland SC005832.
Please contact us directly if you require any assistance with including a legacy for Waverley in your Will.
