This afternoon Waverley departed the James Watt Dock after her annual dry docking and refit works at Dales Marine shipyard in Greenock.
Waverley was slowly eased through the entrance of the dock by two of Clyde Marine Services tugs (Boxer & Wrestler). We are exceptionally grateful to Clyde Marine Services who provided tugs for all moves into and out of dry dock and the James Watt Dock at no cost. Thank you to Clyde Marine Services for assisting Waverley with such a generous level of support.
Since mid-March over £250,000 has been spent on Waverley during her annual dry docking and refit work. In the coming weeks further maintenance work will be carried out ahead of the crew joining in early May.
We would welcome further volunteers to assist on the ship at her berth in Glasgow over the next three weeks to help with varnishing the deck benches and assisting on many other tasks as we prepare Waverley for her first passengers of 2023.
Waverley’s sailing season starts on Friday May 19 with a sailing from Glasgow, Greenock, Largs and Rothesay to Tighnabruaich and round Inchmarnock. Bookings for all of Waverley’s Scottish sailings are now open, tickets can be booked online or by calling 0141 243 2224.
This season will see Waverley return to the Bristol Channel for the first time since 2018, the timetable will be published shortly.
